There may be restrictions/guidelines that may apply to certain police reports. The New Jersey Open Public Records Act (N.J.S.A 47:1A-1) specifics which records are public records and which are confidential.
Police Reports that may NOT be available include:- Juvenile reports
- Investigative details of police reports
- Open or ongoing investigations
- Reports pertaining to major crimes that are pending trial.
Please contact the Records Division at 973-470-5877 to check for the availability of a report before responding to the Clifton Police Department. The Records Division hours of operations are Monday through Friday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.
